  1. I have a German Shepherd for a nephew. He is beloved by his parents, and apparently he gets along with my mother. I am not a dog person, but I generally am won over with their enthusiasm. Unfortunately, Biko, who has to stay inside due to illness, seems to have had a bad experience with a groomer, so strangers who approach him from above (uh, I’m taller than he is) set him off. He held my right wrist in his jaws for a long minute until my brother coaxed him off. Now, if I go to Chris’ house, I will call him from my cell phone and tell him he can let me know when Biko is safely kenneled. I mean, I’m left-handed, but still . . .

  2. I wonder if he notices how you never seem to arrive when he’s out and about any more. 🙂

That said, that sounds pretty scary.

  3. Biko’s about fifteen now, so I’m not sure he knows where his feet are anymore. In his prime, he chewed through a chain-link fence to get at his bitch. (Biko wanted me to phrase it that way. I want Biko to like me.)

  4. I don’t think Biko would pay any attention – he lives in his own little world, like any dog. 😉

I’ve started going out more early and crossing the road… not such a fun place to walk but we’re less likely to come across roving dog packs there.
