Pinched a meme from Brown-eyed Girl!
I edited it from 36 questions to 20 as I don’t think anyone wants to know all of those things about me – and I don’t want to know what people’s first impressions of me were… I’m much too easy to depress.
If you have done this or want to do this, comment here with a link to your entry.
01) What talent do you wish you had?
Current relevant omniscence concerning human affairs, steering clear of trivialities. I suppose that knowing everything would mean knowing when and how the planet comes to an end, and what every individual on Earth’s favourite vegetable is/was, as well as what spiders think about when they sit waiting. Which is just too much.
02) Favourite vegetable?
Potatoes… you can chip them, roast them, boil them, mash them, fritter them, use them in certain pies, have jacket potatoes with various fillings, make potato bread… and then you can have them as leftovers the next day! You can also make a lethal brew out of them, or carve them and make prints using poster paints, but I never wanted to do that.
03) What was the last book you read?
Velocity by Dean Koontz.
04) What zodiac sign are you?
Negative wood snake. Artistic, sensitive, a bit snippy when disturbed; hides behind the wood pile.
05) Worst Habit?
Hiding behind the wood pile.
06) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?
We would have to check with Jolly the Trolley first. He would probably say no.
07) What is your favourite sport?
Used to be showjumping (to watch on TV). My two favourite showjumpers were Ryan’s Son and Hydrophane Coldstream. There was a third who might have been Claret (or a close variation of the name). It’s a shame I can’t remember for sure. Ryan’s Son was very handsome with a wonderful wide blaze down his face and a habit of bucking enthusiastically right after his last jump. Claret (?) was a nervous-looking horse who was easy to pick out because of his slow and jerky jumping style. Both were winning showjumpers as well as charismatic, but Hydrophane Coldstream was just plain brilliant, and that’s why I warmed to him as well as to the other two.
For as long as it remains on the internet, here’s a black and white photo: Hydroplane Coldstream on the far left with that show-off, Ryan’s Son, next to him.
08) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude?
A bit of both, but generally pessimistic.
9) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
Write in my conversation pad and hold it out to you for a reply.
10) Worst thing to ever happen to you?
Apart from being born deaf? Death of father from cancer.
11) Tell me one weird fact about you.
If you turn off the lights, I can’t talk with you anymore.
12) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
Terrifying.
13) What colour eyes do you have?
Brrrrrown.
14) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?
Lend it to family or buy HBOS shares. Or both.
15) Do you believe in ghosts?
Maybe, maybe not. And if they exist, I don’t feel threatened by them. I read somewhere (Thomas LB with his quotations again?) that it’s we who are haunted, not places – but that’s just one more theory.
16) Favourite thing to do in your spare time?
Hide behind the wood pile and ponder.
17) Do you swear a lot?
No, but I have my moments. And I was looking for that word radge for clarification… it appeared in a newspaper yesterday. I remember the girl next door telling me she knew it. She was telling me that something happened that annoyed her, to which she exclaimed “oh, ya radge!” She was a sweet-looking little blond girl and it caused a bit of consternation amongst her male companions. (Best not to follow this link to the Urban Dictionary if you’re easily shocked).
18) Biggest pet peeve?
When I’m watching something on TV with subtitles, and Mum decides to find out when it finishes, pressing the ‘information’ button. A banner appears at the foot of the screen with that information, and I lose the subtitles till it disappears again.
19) Do you believe/appreciate romance?
I used to. Life is greyer and colder through not believing in it any more. I’m a Marianne from Sense and Sensibility… one who has grown up, felt the keen edge of real life, and doesn’t have a Colonel Brandon to rely on.
20) Do you believe in God?
No.
The questions can be copied across as they are… I like to do it that way as it gives me the opportunity to read the last blogger’s answers more carefully… and sometimes his/her answer is so spot on I just leave it where it is.
If you want all of the original 36 questions, you can find them in BEG’s post.

Interestingly enough, I’m a wood snake as well, so we must be within a year in age…

That’s a funny coincidence.

I know what spiders think when they sit waiting. You don’t want to know.

Scorpio? (libra cusp, me)
Oct 14, 2008 @ 21:47:04
No, Gemini.
I hope that doesn’t make me a two-headed snake when combined with the other zodiac sign…

Loved reading the quotes for ‘radge’. It makes me pine for a British comedy.
